Maybe this thread was viewed mostly by male users? Mr. Green
By the way, dear Mrs. Connor, unfortunately I had to delete your link, because it's contrary to our rules: we don't accept explicit advertising of commercial websites on board. But you're welcome to take part in self-defense related discussions here (you can even become the moderator), implicitly advertising your website (for example, placing the link in your signature, or submitting your articles/self-defense tips with the reference to your website). We always invite you to exchange links with our website.

Embarassed Good Morning Boogie Man:

Signing with our web site is habit, I didn't realize that wasn't allowed on your forum...............................I apologize for that.

Good point, perhaps most of the viewers are men which explains why no one has inquired about women's self-defense.

Have a great day!

Take care and stay safe.

Dear Carol Connor! Don't apologize, of course placing links is allowed on this board, but at first I considered your topic as a kind of agressive advertising, which is not in favour here (especially for commercial websites). But I greatly appreciate your efforts in self-defense teaching and your martial arts experience, and I invite you to visit this forum again and again. Your advice (e.g. self-defense tips) will be quite useful for the forum visitors.
BTW, can you tell here your story about your way in martial arts? To my mind, it will be very interesting to everybody.

My best wishes.

Hello Again Boogie Man:

Thank you for reply. I assure you my post was not an aggressive way of marketing, I saw it as an opportunity to let women know that there are specific workshops and programs designed specifically for them.

Regarding my martial art journey. When I was 35 years old I wanted to try martial arts for fitness and once I started training I was hooked and wanted to achieve black belt by my 40th birthday. Not only did I achieve my goal, I actually tested for my 2nd degree black belt shortly after my 40th birthday! A very awesome day!

My company Total Defense Inc. began in 1998 realizing that alot of women wanted to learn self-defense but did not want to train in the marital arts. From that I began teaching self-defense in high schools and love every minute of it.

I attend professional development seminars every summer and would love to hear from colleagues out there who are hosting seminars.

Have a great day! Take care and stay safe.

the problem i find with most of these classes. is they have to narrow view of the types of attacks a woman can face.they always protray the attacker as male. not true! the female prison population is out growing the male part.

The male prison population still exceeds the female at roughly ten to one, and most females are not imprisoned for violent offences.

Odds are still that you'll probably be attacked by a male. Even if not, it doesn't make much difference--fighting women isn't much different. Even kicking upward in the groin works for women because they have a nerve plexus there that causes a lot of pain.

Carol,

What type of self defense are you talking about? Is this general defense against common attacks, or are you specializing in a specific martial art?
