Hi everyone. Just recently registered myself on these forums. About myself, I have been in the Navy for 15 yrs. now and proud to serve my country. Also lived in Norfolk most of my life. I am also a member of the NRA and the GOa and a staunch 2nd Amendent and self-defense advocate. I have also done some martial arts training and had previous training in Muay Thai, JKD, FMA, Japanese Judo/Jujitsu, and Hock's Close Quarter Combatives. Also received law enforcement/security training from the military and also been a concealed handgun permit holder for over a decade now. I am never satisfied with what I have learned and I always thirst for knowledge, always supplementing things from other programs to what I have previously learned. Looking forward to exchanging ideas with everyone here as well as a spirited debate. Very Happy

I have talked to Hock himself and he is a very down to earth person. His seminars are also fun as he can be humorous. He also does not claim his material to be the only thing there is and he pretty cuts straight to the BS. Go to hockscqc.com. He should have a seminar schedule for this and there might be one in your area. He travels all over the world. I got some books and DVDs from him and they make great supplement to my training as well as force protection training for the crew. His 3 areas that he teaches are unarmed combat, stickfighting, and gunfighting.

I've seen several of his vids and read a lot of his work. The closest I've gotten to up-close-and-personal was his interview on a Paladin podcast (google "paladin podcast").

The man is very intelligent and sensible, and talks straight and polite. I love just about everything he does, but I always suspected he has, at his core, kind of a grating temperament. I suspect the same of Kelly McCann. I've never seen Kelly McCann smile, and while his understanding of foreign relations is a little more subtle and rounded than the average American's (you'll never hear him say "kill the fuckin' hadji" publicly), he strikes me as kind of contemptuous to non-Americans. Hock less so... but maybe I get some of that vibe from him.

That said, I respect both their work.

Oh, Mr. McCann does do some cursing on his vids but it is to make a point. I just recently got his new DVDs, "Ground Kembativz:Street Solutions to MMA Setups" and the one dealing with non-lethal/improvised weapons called "Minimum Damage, Maximum Effect". As for Hock and McCann as well as any RBSD instructor, you don't have to like 'em. If their training is very beneficial and they treat you with respect, then it's all cool.
