There are similar sites in the US, actually run by the government. There is obviously potential for abuse, but there are legitimate uses for them too.

Given that this one is a privately run site, I have to wonder, who vets the information? Who verifies that they are indeed convicted? If a pissed off coworker or ex posts a profile about you, will it stay on until the admin has a chance to properly research your case?
