Most attacks to women are unexpected, when she's outside of her home. But what's really saddening is that most of the violence experienced by women are in their homes, or domestic violence. I think women should also be aware of their rights, they can defend themselves even at their homes.

Uh, you just said that most violence against women happens outside of the home, then immediately said that most violence against women happens in their homes.

so....

Anyway, an excellent book on domestic violence is Gottman and Jacobson's "When Men Batter Women". It's got a few horrifying stories in it, but it's generally an excellent piece of scholarship and a quantum leap in the field.

Most violence happens to women by someone they know. Friend, family member, co-worker, boyfriend, etc...
You only can prepare so much without becoming paranoid and ruled by fear. Learn what you can and don't become a victim. I know when I was in training, you have to believe/know that you are the one coming home, no matter if you are being stabbed or shot, etc...

Encourage others to be that way too.
