After being robbed recently i feel i need some protection, as I am an avid fisherman i have a "shakespeare" ugly billy club. For those of you who dont know what it is, its an 18inch solid fiberglass club used to beat large game fish from flopping around on your boat(tuna, marlin, shark). I plan on keeping it in my car, however if Im pulled over and for some reason and an officer implements a search can i be charged for having this in my car?
btw i reside in Massachusetts[/img] |

Some folks I know will deliberately keep other related equipment in the same place, so that the "weapon" doesn't look out of place. That might work out for you, it'll blend in with a tackle box, pole, and gear...
Don't give the officer reason to search your car. (If I'm not mistaken, in the US, if it's a routine stop, he can only search if he believes it's needed for his own safety or if you're suspected of an offence?) _________________ blowjoblessons@gmail.com

I am not sure of MA, but I if the weapon is not visible then the officer does not have a visible safety issue other than you. He/She has to have probable cause to search your vehicle.
Keep your fish gear with you so that way you have a reason to be carrying that weapon (better to be safe with the law). _________________ Best Safety And Defense

Carrying something like that in your vehicle shouldn't be a problem. I have my CC permit so I have my gun. But I also have other "weapons" in my vehicle, none of which would be considered illegal. My father was a commercial electrician back in the day, and he used to carry a 2 to 3 foot piece of heavy electrical wire, 1/2" to 1" in diameter. He had to use it a fews times, and it was never a problem for him to have. _________________ "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not after me" |
