Okay, I have Fibromyalgia. Basicly I feel like a walking bruise. Can anyone give me any suggestions for a self defense program?
Oh, and BJ girl, thank you for the reference to Dr. Ruthless on Utube you gave to another lady. That was cool.

Fibromyalgia sucks. How about looking into systems where you use a weapon to defend yourself (e.g. stick)? That will amplify your power without having to have as much body contact.

Ted Truscott is knowledgeable about that stuff and can probably make some suggestions. You should also look into Kelly McCann's collapsible baton tactics videos, and check out the Dog Brothers videos (they train with lots of contact but you can learn their tactics and movements and train them in whatever way you can). I myself have trained in kali for many years but can't name you specific RBSD programs that would be suitable.

A lot of the non-physical stuff is the same, so be sure to check out what I call the Three Kings:
Sanford Strong's book "Strong On Defense"
Gavin DeBecker's book "The Gift of Fear"
Tony Blauer's audio "Cerebral Self-Defence: The Mental Edge"

Also, I'm not a girl. I just happen to like girls who give blowjobs. Everyone does.

Thanks for the plug bjl,

I do have one student (female brown belt) with Fibromyalgia, and while she struggles, she's getting good workouts and training in traditional karate.

I have not made a personal study into Fibromyalgia so I do not have specific recommendations. I think if she was attacked, she'd forget her sore self and go for the heart of the fight.

In other words, it interferes more with her training than (hopefully) her ability to self defend. Join a club with an understanding sensei / instructor rather than choose a style.

So take what yo like, but perhaps focus on something with little contactual feedback, thought this is very restricting. CQC style pre-emptive strikes would fit in here quite well. For a bit of a survey of these, try my site.

Being called a woman is never an insult--just a mistake.

I respect and adore women--especially ones that give great head.

"In other words, it interferes more with her training than (hopefully) her ability to self defend."
That is an excellent point. When you are attacked, you will do what you need to survive. It's just that you probably won't want to keep practicing it over and over three nights a week. Much like people ask me, "why don't you train in street clothes all the time? You're not going to be attacked in a rashguard or a gi." Well, duh. When I'm attacked "for real" while wearing expensive gear, yeah, I'll scuff and tear them if I have to protect my well-being and my loved ones. But that doesn't mean I have to wear Prada to train.

Yeah, that's right. Mr. Reality, Blowjob Lessons, trains in a gi. And you know what? It works great when it comes to understanding clothing grips when grappling.

Ted great site! I didn't relize it, but I've checked it out before. The cane tactics are somewhat useful to me if I have a problem at work, we sell them. I also like the slapping the eye thing- That's a new one to me. You've been added to my favs!
I know if I'm put in the situation that I won't feel my daily crap. I do, however want my defense to be second nature. So thanks to both of you for all of your help and suggestions.
