The idea of crime prevention is a valid one, especially in light of the seeming inability of law enforcement to make apprehensions. In the 4th largest city in the United States, Houston, Texas, there is a crisis involving emboldened criminals openly accosting innocent people.

In Baytown, Texas; a suburb of Houston a 19 year old local man was recently apprehended as a serial rapist. He targeted young men. His criminal pattern was so unusual that F.B.I. profilers had insufficient information to formulate a profile on the type of offender.

There are over 8,000 "rape kits" in the possession of the Houston Police Dept. that remain untested. A "rape kit" is the medical-legal examination conducted on a rape victim. As these "kits" sit, the DNA evidence has a tendency to degrade to the point that it no longer has any evidentiary value.

As time passes, it becomes increasingly the burden of the innocent to provide of their own protection from violent miscreants.

Rape is a dastardly crime, however it is not the only crime being inflicted on a public that is either too mistrustful or too afraid to notify the police.

Solomon said that Justice will be achieved when those who are not harmed by crime become as indignant as those who are.

Are we there yet?

Does 'unsolved' include the incidents where the primary suspect couldn't be successfully convicted? That would make sense, because it's hard to get enough evidence to prove some guilty. Even if the cops figured out what happened (i.e. solved it), they may not have enough evidence to arrest and/or convict the alleged rapist.

Scott Hughes is correct. The OP is throwing around random factoids out of context, without defining his terms (e.g. "unsolved"?) and gives the false impression that most rapes are perpetrated by unknown subjects. It is well known that most rapists are known to their victims.

If he would cite his sources, he could be quickly discredited, but what he's saying is too vague to either confirm or deny. All we can say is, it's misleading.

Anyway, if anyone's asking to be raped these days, it's Carrie Prejean. I wonder if she'd still keep that plastic smile on when her ass is being reamed.

If I wake up tomorrow morning to find her handcuffed to my shower curtain rod, the world will find out. Cross your fingers. Smile
